Brilliant, of course.

I learned so much from him, long distance, over the years.

He died the week we were sitting shiva for my dad, so even tho the Rabbi is gone, I always smile when I read or listen to him. I'd like to think my dad is harassing him with all kinds of crazy questions.

HP -- Your dad harassing Rabbi Sacks with all kinds of crazy questions would have delighted Rabbi Sacks, I'm sure. :-) ... Few people have done a better job of making Judaism meaningful to a contemporary audience than R. Sacks. As for his d'var Torah about Joseph & his brothers -- I've listened to it more times than I can count. One of those "ah-ha!" moments for me. ...

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is not a real estate dispute. It's a family dispute between siblings. No political solution -- borders here or borders there -- will address what fuels this fight. The only hope for a solution is an encounter between Israelis and Palestinians, Jews and Muslims that talks about origins -- Sarah and Hagar, Isaac and Ishmael. That's one possible road to peace.
